Position Summary:
CSN Dundas Valley is looking for an Auto Body Tech to join our team. Our Auto Body Technician must be able to take a vehicle in a damaged state and repair or restore damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The Incumbent is detailed oriented and can multitask to accommodate shifting priorities. The technician reports to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities of the Auto Body Technician:
- Review repair orders and estimates to determine required work and plan the repair process
- Conduct a detailed inspection of vehicle damage, including exterior panels, structural components, and all functional systems (locks, windows, mirrors, warning lights, etc.)
- Identify any additional or prior damage not captured in the initial estimate or QA checklist
- Perform full structural and body repairs, including repairing or replacing panels, doors, frames, and underbody components
- Remove, repair, and reinstall both interior and exterior vehicle components, including electrical parts and accessories
- Straighten frames and structural components using appropriate measuring, pulling, and anchoring equipment
- Repair dents, buckles, and other imperfections using hand tools and specialized equipment
- Perform welding using MIG welders and spot welders as required
- Disassemble damaged areas of vehicles to uncover hidden damage early in the repair process
- Remove and replace damaged parts such as panels, fenders, grilles, and glass (including windshields and sunroofs)
- Prepare surfaces for refinishing by sanding, grinding, and smoothing using hand and power tools
- Use fillers and appropriate materials to restore vehicle surfaces to pre-accident condition
- Follow OEM repair procedures and utilize appropriate data systems and guidelines
- Inspect completed repairs to ensure quality standards are met and perform test drives when required
- Interpret and follow repair estimates accurately
- Work with various materials including metals, plastics, glass, and mechanical/electrical components
- Utilize frame and measuring equipment effectively
- Perform full disassembly and reassembly of vehicles
- Adhere to established production processes and shop procedures
- Represent CSN Collision professionally and contribute to a positive team environment
- Perform additional duties as required by management
Requirements
Qualifications, Experience and other requirements:
- Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License
- Technicians with I-Car training are favorable
- Carrying, Lifting – 100 lbs, standing, sitting, walking, reaching
- Valid G Class Drivers license required
- 3 to 5 years of working Knowledge of Mitchell / Audatex
- Must have own tools, safety footwear.
