The Opportunity:
Red River Co-op is recruiting for a Full-Time Float Meat Cutter. This position will float between our Winnipeg and rural locations, with our St. Vital Food Store being their home base. This position reports to the Meat Manager. The Meat Cutter adds value to our Co-operative by preparing fresh, high quality, well-merchandised meat products for our customers.
Essential responsibilities of the position include the following:
Deliver world-class customer service that is friendly and efficient.
Prepare cuts of meat for retail sale using a knife and various power equipment (band saw, grinder, patty maker,
Prepare marinated meats and other “value added” products.
Interact with customers, provide recommendations and answer questions about cuts of meat, including cooking instructions.
Assist the Meat Manager with duties such as writing and scheduling orders, ensuring quality control with suppliers, checking invoices for accuracy and assisting with inventory counts.
A full responsibility list will be provided to candidates selected for interviews.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a retail meat department as a meat cutter; OR
Formal training in meat cutting, such as the Food Processing (Animal Proteins) program at Assiniboine Community College.
A valid driver’s license as well as access to a vehicle for travel. The meat floater will be required to drive to all our locations as per their scheduled shifts.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
Available for varying shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.
