Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) has been organizing medical students and residents in Ontario by arranging core and elective medical rotations since 1988.
There is a need for physicians in every area of the world, particularly in rural locations. The Rural Ontario Medical Program eases burdens caused by the nationwide physician distribution problem by arranging core and elective medical rotations for medical students in Ontario.
ROMP serves 65 different communities located throughout Ontario. Not only do we coordinate rotations for medical learners in rural areas, but we also help those currently working in the medical field to connect with these learners and teach them. Services provided by ROMP are funded by the Ministry of Health with the Ministry assuming a direct funding relationship with ROMP as of December 1, 2025.
VISION – to be the partner of choice for inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals in rural Ontario.
MISSION – Alleviate the burden on communities caused by the nationwide physician distribution program and create learning opportunities outside the centres and into communities.
The board of directors of ROMP is seeking an Executive Director. This is a newly created position and will lead ROMP in advancing its mission, overseeing operations, managing staff, and ensuring financial sustainability. This role requires a self-directed leader who can operate effectively in a small organization with limited administrative infrastructure.
