The Role

The Pricing & Contracts Analyst maintains pricing data and provides support for the daily and monthly pricing for all Crude & NGL business units. Assists internal parties in the evaluation of opportunities for customers by providing pricing data support. Coordinates the preparation and execution of Crude & NGL Marketing contracts.

What You Will Do

  • Gathers, updates and verifies all daily and monthly prices into ETRM systems (ie. Right Angle) for invoicing and financial reporting.
  • Preparing end‑of‑day (EOD) or daily marks, which involves compiling North American market data and determining index, spot, and forward prices.
  • Is responsible for month end estimates and settlements, while adhering to tight deadlines and time constraints.
  • Maintains all trucking freight rates, mileage and fuel surcharges in RA for invoicing.
  • Prepares equalization reconciliations for cost recovery.
  • Maintains, analyzes and updates tariffs, EQs, and differentials as they relate to commercial deals.
  • Prepares and completes monthly pricing confirmations with counterparties for all Stream and US Crude product deals.
  • Investigates, resolves and communicates pricing differences with external counterparties.
  • Responsible for verification, distribution and warehousing of Purchase and Sales contracts.
  • Obtains and validates contract approvals to comply with Internal Controls.
  • Develops relationships with counterparties in other organizations, maintains communication and resolves routine or minor contract issues when required
  • Troubleshoots transaction entry problems as they relate to contracts and works with schedulers and deal entry to resolve the issue.
  • Manages contract and pricing group email boxes.
  • Maintains Master Data and vendor setup as required in our systems.
  • Establishes rapport with internal and external counterparties and facilitates teamwork.
  • Draws logical conclusions. Sees the implications of industry/market events or information.
  • Contributes to decisions taken within the team and puts forward alternative solutions.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of NGL and crude oil pricing is perferred.
  • Understanding of crude oil production is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with North American crude and NGL markets.
  • Experience with RightAngle and/or other ETRM systems, including system implementation, is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify trends, patterns, and key insights in data.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and an understanding of the impact of pricing on customers.
  • Open to new ideas and approaches, with a willingness to continuously improve.

  2. Marketing: This involves the purchasing, selling, storing, and optimizing of hydrocarbon products.

Gibson Energy has a strong presence in the United States, due to the acquisition of the Gateway Terminal in Ingleside, Texas. This terminal is a world-class liquids terminal and export facility with very large crude carrier (VLCC) capabilities and direct pipeline connections to key basins like the Permian and Eagle Ford. The acquisition strengthens Gibson's cash flow with over 95% of the revenue under take-or-pay contracts with high-quality counterparties.
