Job Description - Manager, Mining Project Contracts (EDM01OG)Management Level:Manager:

Building on our past. Ready for the future
Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We’re bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Manager, Mining Project Contracts. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in either Edmonton, Alberta or Calgary, Alberta.

Senior contracts professional with extensive mining project experience located in Alberta, supporting EPC/EPCM project delivery across all phases. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute contracting strategies, establish contracting and pre‑qualification frameworks, and manage complex project contracts in alignment with customer, regulatory, and corporate requirements.

Strong understanding of mining market conditions, local contractor capabilities, Indigenous and regional considerations, and mining‑specific risk profiles. Proven ability to partner with engineering, construction, and project management teams to enable safe, compliant, and commercially sound project outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages end to end contracts management for mining projects, including EPC and EPCM delivery models, with a strong focus on Canada based execution.
  • Develops and implements project specific contracting strategies for mining scopes including earthworks, civil, mechanical, electrical, construction services, and specialist mining contractors. Ensures sourcing approaches aligned with project risk, schedule, and cost objectives.
  • Establishes and executes contractor pre qualification programs, including development of qualification criteria, evaluation frameworks, and approved bidder lists.
  • Provides commercial and contractual leadership through tendering, negotiation, award, and administration of complex project contracts.
  • Identifies and manages commercial, contractual, and supply chain risks, including Canada/Mining specific regulatory, labour, and market considerations.
  • Supports project leadership with commercial input to execution strategies, risk assessments, and change management.
  • Leads contract administration activities including change control, claims support, dispute resolution, and contract close out.
  • Interfaces with customer and stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure alignment with contractual and governance requirements.
  • May provide functional leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to contracts personnel.
  • Travel to the customer office or to the project site maybe required, during the life of the project.
  • Alberta specific regulatory and contracting requirements: Mining projects are governed by provincial legislation, labour laws, safety standards, environmental approvals, and Indigenous engagement obligations that require strong local knowledge and ongoing in jurisdiction interaction.
  • Local market and contractor knowledge: Effective supply chain depends on first hand understanding of the Canada mining and construction market, including contractor capacity, labour availability, union dynamics, pricing, and market cycles.
  • Project embedded role requiring real time engagement: The position operates as part of the core project delivery team, requiring time zone alignment, participation in live negotiations, and close collaboration with engineering, construction, legal, and client teams.
  • Contract risk, change, and claims management: EPC/EPCM mining contracts involve complex change management and claims mitigation that require immediate commercial judgment and direct engagement with site and construction stakeholders.
  • Indigenous and regional stakeholder considerations: Many projects include Indigenous participation and local content commitments that require culturally appropriate, locally informed procurement and contracting strategies.
  • Governance, accountability, and client confidence: Given the commercial exposure and decision authority associated with the role, clients and internal governance expect accountability to reside within the same jurisdiction as the project.
  • Appropriate use of offshore resources: Offshore locations (., India or Bogotá) are better suited to transactional, analytical, or support activities, whereas this role requires senior, project embedded commercial leadership.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

  • 15+ years of procurement and contracts experience, with demonstrated mining project experience, preferably within Canada.
  • Strong experience supporting large EPC and/or EPCM mining projects, from early project phases through execution and close‑out.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and execute procurement and contracting strategies tailored to project risk and market conditions.
  • Hands‑on experience with contractor pre‑qualification, tender evaluation, commercial negotiations, and contract award recommendations.
  • Solid understanding of Canada contracting practices, construction market dynamics, and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated capability in project contracts management, including change management, claims mitigation, and commercial governance.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, project leadership, and contractors.
  • Leadership experience in multidisciplinary and multi‑location project teams.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
