Job description
Heavy Duty Warranty Technician - $40 to $48 per Hour Winnipeg

Are you a knowledgeable Heavy Duty Mechanic looking to transition away from full-time floor work into a specialized diagnostic and warranty role?
Do you take pride in meticulous documentation and possess the ability to seamlessly navigate complex warranty guidelines?
Are you searching for a stable, professional shop environment where your technical expertise helps solve problems and supports a high-volume production team?

If so, we’d love to hear from you! Our client, a premier, long-standing Western Canadian leader in heavy-duty parts and service, is looking for a Warranty Technician to join their Winnipeg operations. This is a unique "hybrid" role (50% mechanic / 50% admin) that bridges the gap between the service bay, production, and parts departments, ensuring that technical repairs meet the highest quality and warranty standards.

Unlike a standard shop role, you are the technical gatekeeper. You will spend your time analyzing work orders, diagnosing complex system failures (transmissions, differentials, air systems), and ensuring the company is protected through accurate reporting. It’s the perfect spot for a "Jack of all Trades" who is ready for a professional, detail-oriented challenge.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Daytime
Environment: Commercial Parts & Service Shop
Wage: $40.00 to $48.00 per hour (Based on experience)

Advantages
What's in it for you?
Competitive Pay: Strong starting hourly wage with scheduled performance and wage reviews.
Work-Life Balance: Reliable Monday to Friday daytime shift with consistent hours.
Financial Security: Access to pension plan options and a comprehensive benefits package.
Gear Support: Annual boot allowance and tool allowance provided.
Professional Extras: Company-supplied overalls and paid holiday time.
Career Evolution: A unique opportunity to leverage your hands-on trade skills in a professional hybrid role.

Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
Diagnosis & Repair: Assist in diagnosing complex vehicle issues and repair sequences for transmissions, differentials, air compressors, steering gearboxes, and drivelines.
Warranty Administration: Ensure all repairs strictly follow approved and established warranty procedures. Document repairs, parts required, and labor with high accuracy.
Workflow Management: Analyze work orders to verify vehicle conditions and the accuracy of previous diagnoses. Estimate service times to assist with efficient scheduling.
Parts Coordination: Identify parts requirements for specific jobs and communicate those needs clearly via repair orders to the Parts department.
Technical Communication: Maintain constant communication with Service Consultants and the Production department regarding repair status and warranty policies.

Qualifications
What are we looking for in a candidate?
Technical Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of semi-truck systems and the ability to explain complex repairs to others clearly.
Certification: Valid Journeyman Truck and Transport Mechanic ticket is a significant asset.
Documentation Skills: Proven ability to document detailed repairs and accurately track charges on warranty work orders.
Compliance: Strong understanding of and ability to comply with strict quality control and inspection requirements.
Physical & Digital Skills: Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs throughout the day and be fully competent in using computer systems.
