Outside Sales Representative
The C&I Sales - New Business role is an experienced business development position focused on finding, qualifying, and advancing high-value commercial and industrial solar opportunities. The role focuses on targeting well-established organizations within the Commercial and Industrial sector, using their existing network, industry experience, and strong executive relationships to open doors and build a strong project pipeline. This person also builds and grows relationships with Commercial general contractors and Commercial electrical contractors to increase tender and referral opportunities. They will work closely with internal technical design teams to shape and qualify opportunities, then hand off high-quality projects to senior sales to close.
Responsibilities:
Business Development & Prospecting
● Proactively identify, pursue, and originate new Commercial and Industrial solar and/or storage opportunities
● Leverage an established network and existing book of business to accelerate deal origination
● Open doors with senior decision-makers, including C-suite, asset managers, facilities leaders, and finance executives
Relationship Management
● Develop long-term relationships with owners, operators, and key decision-makers
● Act as a trusted advisor, not a transactional salesperson
● Work through complex decision-making processes within large organizations, Energy & Technical Advisory
● Strong understanding of commercial and industrial electrical distribution systems
● Work closely with SFE Design, Estimating and Engineering teams to confirm proof of concept
Financial & Commercial Acumen
● Lead conversations about costs, savings, financial returns, and long-term value
● Complete financial modelling to illustrate benefits
● Help build business cases that make sense for REITs and large organizations
Deal Advancement & Internal Collaboration
● Qualify opportunities and pass strong, well-defined projects to the internal team
● Represent the company at industry events and networking meetings, which may occur outside of regular office hours
Qualifications
● Proven success in C&I sales or business development, with a hunter/prospector focus
● Established contacts and book of business within the commercial and industrial sectors
● Demonstrated experience selling large-scale energy or infrastructure projects
● Strong understanding of commercial energy efficiency opportunities, utility energy management programs, and utility incentives
● Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar designation is an asset
● Advanced financial literacy with the ability to engage senior decision makers
