Job description

WHAT THE ROLE PROVIDES YOU:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership, support and professional development by coaching, mentoring and supervising Comprehensive Care staff and Client Service Coordinators; provides direction to support their ability to be effective and successful in their role
  • Acts as the team resource for relevant policies, procedures, legislation, service protocols as well as ethical codes and guidelines
  • Acts as the principle liaison between staff and senior agency leadership as well as between team members and other service/support providers; facilitates cross-agency communication and participation
  • Promote productive working relationships with community partners and provincial, federal and non-governmental agencies
  • Coordinate and promote services available through Comprehensive Care with various stakeholders to effectively build the program
  • Act as a liaison and participate on internal and external committees
  • Provide orientation and training to new team members
  • Communicates with clients, stakeholders or other service providers on an as-needed basis
  • Contributes to the development and management of team scheduling and budget processes; ensure adherence to both financial and service terms and conditions
  • Ensures that Comprehensive Care teams have full understanding of all policies and procedures currently in place at DDRC
  • Ensures that all required staff files, documentation and information is captured according to agency and accreditation requirements
  • Ensures all decisions are value driven, client-centred and based on DDRC mission and vision
  • Oversees Performance Review processes of community-based respite workers and service coordinators as per DDRC Policies
  • Act as first level supervisor of all staff-related critical incidents
  • Ensures that all required staff files, documentation and information is captured according to agency and accreditation requirements
  • Ensures that staff attend required workshops/training sessions in timely manner
  • Ensures all required documentation is placed in personnel file
  • Schedules required meetings and planning sessions for teams
  • Attends all required meetings and planning sessions as requested; accountable for seeking information if absent from meeting and disseminating information to relevant staff
  • Takes accountability to ensure all mandatory certifications and training are kept current

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Post-Secondary diploma in Disabilities Service/Rehabilitation and/or Program Management, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years leadership experience
  • Minimum two (2) years working in a related field
  • Related experience dealing with children, families and community
  • Proven experience working with children and families
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Knowledgeable of community resources and how to access resources
  • Strong critical thinking, excellent organization and administrative skills
  • Strong Leadership, Relationship Building and Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Customer Service and Time Management are a must
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of and understanding of applicable federal and provincial legislation as well as professional standards (e.g. Alberta Human Rights Commission, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulation and code)
  • Creating Excellence Together (CET) Accreditation experience within the disability sector, an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel to all quadrants and communities within Calgary City Limits year round
  • Provide proof of business commercial automobile liability coverage with a minimum of 2 million liability
  • Working independently within both the client home and in the community
