GEI Consultants Canada is seeking a Process Engineer to support the growth of our Civil Practice. This role combines technical leadership in water and wastewater facility design with project management responsibilities, including client engagement and delivery oversight. You’ll work on impactful projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor emerging talent within a flexible and collaborative working environment.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Design Development : Create process engineering designs and equipment selection for water and wastewater infrastructure, including vertical facilities (pump stations, booster stations, reservoirs) and linear infrastructure (gravity sewers, forcemains, watermains).
- Technical Documentation : Prepare engineering calculations, equipment lists, P&IDs, PCNs, and hydraulic models. Expertise in pump system design, commissioning, and optimization is essential.
- Reports & Specifications : Write design reports, technical specifications, and contract documents. Develop construction cost estimates.
- Coordination : Act as the lead project engineer, collaborating with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to deliver integrated design packages.
- Drafting & Modeling : Work with drafting teams to produce engineering drawings and 3D BIM models aligned with design intent.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Construction Support : Review shop drawings, respond to contractor queries, and assist with site inspections, commissioning, FAT / SAT, and troubleshooting during construction.
- Project Management : Depending on project type, you may lead projects directly as the project manager. You are expected to manage scope, quality, budgets, invoicing, schedules, and client relationships with guideance and support form the senior management team.
- Business Development : Contribute to proposals and client engagement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with strong academic training in environmental engineering, including water / wastewater conveyance and treatment and civil infrastructure.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.Minimum 10 years of experience in the design and construction of water / wastewater and related municipal infrastructure.Excellent communication and project coordination skills.Physical and environmental requirements for this position are available upon request.Preferred Skills
Site inspection and commissioning experience.Experience with hydraulic transient analysis and modeling software.Familiarity with scheduling software such as MS Project.Master’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.Additional Information
