Job description
Are you an experienced Warehouseperson in Winnipeg looking for a dynamic opportunity where you can prove your value and secure a long-term career? Our client, a prominent leader in the building materials industry, is currently seeking a dedicated Warehouseperson to join their team on a temporary, full time basis. This is an excellent chance for a motivated individual to showcase their skills in a high-volume logistics environment, with the potential to transition into a permanent role based on performance and cultural fit.

In this Warehouseperson role, you will be a vital part of the supply chain, ensuring that small independent lumber yards and retail building centers across Manitoba receive their orders accurately and on time. This position requires a unique blend of physical stamina, technical forklift skill, and extreme attention to detail. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from picking individual cases of adhesive items to pulling and staging full lifts of lumber. The work environment is diverse, encompassing both indoor and outdoor warehouse settings, which requires handling long and large materials that demand precision and a steady hand.

A significant portion of your day as a Warehouseperson will involve manual counting and pulling of products. Accuracy is paramount. Following the manual pick, you will be loading and moving materials using both propane and electric forklifts. Because you will be handling diverse inventory and reading detailed pick sheets, strong math and English capabilities are essential.

Advantages
• Pay rate of $19-$21 per hour.
• Daytime schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Temporary-to-Permanent potential: Prove your skills and secure a long-term role.
• Opportunity to work with a reputable, independent leader in the building materials industry.
• A variety of tasks that keep the workday engaging and fast-paced.

Responsibilities
• Accurately pick and stage orders for the manufacturing & logistics department using paper pick sheets for a variety of building materials.
• Perform precise manual piece counts for specific orders, ensuring total accuracy before loading.
• Operate propane and electric forklifts to move, load, and unload heavy, oversized, or long materials such as lumber and siding.
• Navigate the warehouse safely and efficiently, including frequent reverse driving when transporting obstructed loads.
• Work effectively in both indoor and outdoor warehouse environments, adapting to Winnipeg’s changing weather conditions.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to minimize hazards and maximize productivity in the manufacturing & logistics area.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and meeting daily shipping deadlines.
• Conduct regular inventory checks and document any discrepancies for the warehouse management team.

Qualifications
• Strong mathematical aptitude for accurate piece counting and inventory verification.
• Excellent English literacy skills to correctly interpret pick sheets, labels, and safety documentation.
• Superior spatial awareness for maneuvering long materials (up to 16-20 feet) through warehouse aisles.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Warehouseperson or in a related industrial environment.
• Valid certification or significant documented experience operating propane and electric forklifts.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular and repetitive basis.
• Outstanding attendance and punctuality are non-negotiable for this role.
