About Us

Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to power a secure energy future. The Role

Reporting to the chief engineer, mining, you will act as a key liaison between the Technical Services and Mine Operations teams. In this role, you will support the coordination of operational priorities and manage scope changes through effective communication, helping to resolve mining challenges that impact safety and productivity. Based out of the corporate office, you will regularly travel to our northern site operations to collaborate with site teams and support execution.

In this role, you will:

  • Support current operations by resolving mining-related problems affecting health, safety, and operating economic.
  • Provide technical input for new deposit assessments and evaluate economic feasibility.
  • Liaise with site staff to address technical issues related to ground control, dewatering, hydrogeology, ventilation, mine design.
  • Participate in mining-related studies ranging from conceptual to feasibility-level design.
  • Conduct regular site reviews to evaluate compliance with corporate engineering standards, quality Management System (QMS) procedures and mine regulations.
  • Support operating mine sites and collaborate with corporate development, exploration, and mineral resource management (MRM) teams to ensure safe production and future growth.

Required:

  • bachelor’s degree in geological, geotechnical or mine engineering;
  • eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
  • three to six years relevant production mining experience (underground mining would be an asset);
  • exposure to mine design and planning, including drillhole or stope layouts;
  • effective communication, planning and organizational skills;
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills;
  • proficiency with 3D mine design software (Deswik and Vulcan);
  • experience in planning and scheduling;
  • ability to work with little supervision and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • occasionally travel to our mine sites by aircraft.

Recommended:

  • Professional Engineer designation (P. Eng);
  • experience supporting ground support activities (backfill, shotcrete, or grouting);
  • experience with raisebore or longhole design;
  • exposure to NATM or similar ground control methods;
  • experience with geotechnical monitoring or interpretation;
  • familiarity with geotechnical software (Unwedge, RS2, Map3D);
  • experience with ventilation systems or software (Ventsim); and
  • surveying or drafting exposure
