Retrofit Engineering Intern

Summary

Reporting to the Retrofit Applications Manager, the Retrofit Engineering Intern is a fundamental asset to the engineering process bringing innovation and ingenuity to the team. The successful candidate will manage a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

This is a 16-month internship with a target start in May 2026.

With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position is based out of the Enerflex SE Calgary office at 4700 47th St SE. This is an in-office Monday to Friday position. No hybrid option.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Under the supervision of Applications Manager and Professional Services Manager, the successful candidate would:

• Evaluate the design and performance of Compression equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet Customer’s specifications and timetable
• Assist in evaluation of opportunity risk and reward, and assist in developing strategic proposal strategies
• Assist with and support the proposal process from opportunity to award
• Assist with ensuring adequate evaluation of request for quotation requirements and specifications
• Assist with conducting the design, selection, and costing of equipment / units both internally and externally (i.e. subvendors)
• Ensure scope definition, technical / commercial accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of proposals
• Provide customer support to sales via bid clarification meetings, pre-bid technical meetings, negotiation meetings, etc
• Understanding of codes and standards in the global markets we are active in
• Ensure a smooth and efficient transition of information to Project’s Department upon award
• Liaison / coordination with both internal resources (P&P departments, sales, etc.) as well as external (i.e. clients, subvendors, etc) to develop relationships and encourage a “team” culture
• Assist in the development and maintenance of quoting tools and procedures in order to improve the process and increase accuracy and success of proposals
• Conduct engineering calculations using Enerflex proprietary programs (sizing of vessels, lines, control valves, PSV’s, etc.)
• Participate in the development of the P&ID and BOM to meet project scope
• Liaise with vessel design, Procurement and Production personnel
• Prepare engineering documents and manuals

Qualifications

• 3rd year of Mechanical Engineering program complete
• Demonstrated skills related to the engineering program
• Ability to work independently
• Strong verbal and communication skills
• Aptitude to learn new skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Experience with AutoCAD and P&ID drawings would be a definite asset
