The Controller plays a key leadership role in overseeing the company’s financial operations and ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant reporting. This position blends deep technical accounting expertise with forward-looking financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and strong internal controls—foundational elements as we continue to scale our renewable energy projects.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is a vital member of our middle management team and will provide strategic financial insight to support sustainable business growth. This role requires a minimum of three days per week in the office at our Halifax, Nova Scotia headquarters.

What you Will be Doing

• Lead the full-cycle accounting process, including month-end and year-end close, financial statements, and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements specific to renewable energy projects, including tax credits, grants, and government programs.
• Manage cash flow, forecasting, and budgeting to support capital-intensive project development.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decisions, project investment evaluation, and capital planning.
• Oversee corporate compliance and registrations of parent and subsidiaries.
• Partner with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership to track project financial performance.
• Manage corporate and affiliate insurance policies.
• Lead and mentor finance and accounting staff as the team grows.

What You Bring to Our Team

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with 3+ years in a managerial or Controller role.
• Experience in project-based industries, energy, or infrastructure is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
• Proven ability to develop budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Where You Will Collaborate

We offer a hybrid work model with the expectation to come into the office three days a week where collaboration and idea generation happens at our Halifax hub. You’ll work remotely when you want focus time, we all need that sometimes to balance life and work.
