CAD $41.42 – $59.52 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care of assigned patients, identifies potential problems, plans interventions, executes them, and evaluates outcomes.
  • Coordinates and provides nursing care according to physician and anesthetist orders and in conformance with hospital policies, setting priorities and delegating tasks.
  • Modifies care as needs change, initiating immediate treatment such as applying non‑invasive monitoring devices if required.
  • Explains procedures to patients and teaches them how to deal with procedure results.
  • Obtains, checks, sets up and positions supplies, instruments and equipment for interventional procedures, ensuring proper function and reporting those in need of repair.
  • Performs circulation duties, passing instruments, supplies, medications and other materials to the team.
  • Documents assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes, and referrals per practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
  • Collaborates with members of the interprofessional care team—including physicians, licensed practical nurses, patient care coordinators, clinical nurse educators and other health professionals—to identify and resolve issues, adjust care plans, and address patient condition changes.
  • Sets priorities, delegates tasks, and makes appropriate referrals according to established protocols and practice standards.
  • Collaborates with patients and their families/caregivers to develop and modify the care plan, establishing a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, trust, and respect, and advocating for the patient’s rights and autonomy.
  • Teaches patients and families/caregivers about illness prevention, health restoration, and health maintenance to support self‑care and discharge planning.
  • Initiates referrals to appropriate health care or community agencies in collaboration with the interprofessional team.
  • Participates in nursing committees, care conferences, and councils as assigned or agreed upon with management.
  • Engages in research and quality‑improvement activities, identifying care issues and recommending corrective actions.
  • Attends in‑services and educational programs, identifying learning goals and maintaining current clinical competence.
  • Acts as a preceptor or mentor to new nursing staff and students, sharing information and demonstrating care activities during orientation.
  • Provides feedback to management regarding patient care programs, clinical decision‑support tools, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Advocates for the patient’s right to autonomy, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
  • Participates in nursing and hospital committees and councils for patient care and workplace improvement.
  • Manages related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training & Experience
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of the Cardiology component of a Post‑Basic Critical Care course or a similar high‑acuity course, plus one year recent experience in cardiac monitoring or telemetry, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current CPR (Level C) and ACLS certificates.

  • Proficient in integrating data from multiple sources for effective problem‑solving.
  • Educator in health topics essential to patient and family well‑being.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Team collaboration and promotion of interprofessional cooperation.
  • Evidence‑based nursing decision making.
  • Technical proficiency with relevant equipment and computer applications.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties.
