Job description

Here at DIALOG, we are passionate about design and believe it can and should meaningfully improve the wellbeing of our communities and the environment we all share.

We are a multi-disciplinary practice of architects, interior designers, urban designers and planners, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, landscape architects and sustainability experts who design for community wellbeing and urban vibrancy. We are a fun-loving bunch of big thinkers and city-shapers, who are collaborative in our approach, diverse in our perspectives, aspirational in our pursuits, and optimistic about what’s next. We’re always looking for passionate people who share our values and care as much about our communities as we do. We're proud to be a Certified B Corporation and one of Canada's Greenest Employers, committed to using our design practice as a force for good in the world.

Explore our studios and join us!

Do you want to help change how we design and deliver large scale infrastructure projects? Do you want to work within a collaborative environment where the Owner, Design Team, General Contractor, Mechanical Contractor and Electrical Contractor work as a unified team in a best-for-project environment? If yes, we’re looking for a Senior Architect to round out our diverse and innovative team to help us design the future of healthcare. Working closely with Partners and Associates, you will help us lead teams for healthcare planning and design.

Our integrated national healthcare team is driven by collaboration and a shared passion for solving complex challenges. We delight in the art and science of designing spaces that go beyond function - creating environments that promote healing, dignity, and resilience. Every project demands empathy, creativity, and technical excellence, and our team approaches each opportunity with tireless commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.

How you’ll make a difference

  • Work in a unique, collaborative One-Team environment where all voices are valued and heard;
  • Bring a thorough understanding of how our industry can improve work processes to bring value to the challenging physical environment of healthcare;
  • Embrace the “art of the possible” - new ways of working and looking at how we can best design and deliver healthcare infrastructure;
  • Provide design leadership and direction to team members to develop in-house expertise and methodologies to advance the group and the efficiency and effectiveness of architectural work;
  • Advise on and apply relevant/applicable codes, design standards, and construction methodologies;
  • Develop and manage client relationships;
  • Leading communication with the community and interested project participants;
  • Deliver projects efficiently and effectively through inspirational leadership;
  • Actively contribute to design discussions, critiques, and a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and critical thinking; and
  • Willingness to participate in all project phases and provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of the architectural team members.

Who you are

  • 12+ years architectural design and leadership (experience with healthcare projects an asset but not required);
  • Registered Architect preferred (or eligible) in British Columbia or Alberta;
  • Thrives and has fun working in a fast paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Deep understanding of Revit and BIM software platforms (e.g., Navisworks, BIM 360, Glue, Revizto), with the ability to oversee their strategic application on projects;
  • Proficient in Rhino, capable of guiding and reviewing complex modeling workflows;
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and/or other visualization software;
  • Proficient in all phases of architectural design including master planning, schematic design and design development and be actively involved in the preparation and coordination of construction documents;
  • Strong leadership experience in establishing scope, and directing the work of professional architects and technical staff on multiple projects, in a hybrid (in-studio and virtual) work environment;
  • Able to lead large projects (> $100 million construction value) with minimal supervision, including consultant coordination and client management; and
  • Experience in leading project pursuit efforts (RFQ/RFP responses, fee letters).

$105,000 - $138,000 a year
