If you value service, care, excellence, and fairness, you’ll fit right in. You'll play an important role in making a difference that creates a safer, healthier and stronger Alberta by putting people first. We work together every day to help minimize the impact of workplace injuries and illnesses on Alberta workers and employers.

Millard Health is customer focused and geared towards excellence in disability management and rehabilitation services. We offer a variety of innovative assessment and treatment services that focus on our client’s abilities, employability and lifestyle enhancement. Millard Health is at the forefront of innovation – health care is evolving, and we want to lead the way! We are focused on ensuring human centered design concepts are at the core of our treatment experience. We recognize the experience is as important as the outcome and are focused on a delightful client experience with tailored treatment that recognizes their unique individual needs.

How you’ll make a difference:

We are seeking an individual with a clinical, counseling or rehabilitation psychology background for the position of Psychologist II (Psychology Consultant). Our workers experience a variety of work-related psychological injuries and symptoms which occur as a direct result of workplace incidents (e.g. trauma, chronic stress, etc.) or result from the emotional impact of a physical injury or treatment (e.g., chronic pain, mood disorders, etc.). Reporting to a Team Lead and Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for clinical review and consultation to WCB personnel and other stakeholders on the psychological management of claims.

Your Psychology Consultant responsibilities:

  • Psychological consultation to other WCB departments and personnel to assist in the management of claims, including providing verbal and written opinions regarding diagnosis, relationship between symptoms/diagnosis and the work-related injury, fitness for work, and recommendations for assessment, treatment, and return to work.
  • Review of longer-term treatment plans to provide recommendations to claim owners and community service providers.
  • Critical Incident Intervention.
  • Collaboration with WCB contract managers to inform them of performance issues with contracted psychological service providers including provision of feedback to providers on clinical and contractual issues.
  • May have some involvement in WCB committee work related to management of psychological injuries to assist in the development of best practice guidelines including input into policy/procedure. Provide in-services to the WCB as required.
  • Works as a member of team of psychological consultants, psychological assistants, and referral expeditors, providing support and guidance to all team members. Provides occasional supervision to graduate/undergraduate students.

Your experience and skills:

  • The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Psychology, registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and completion of an internship from a Canadian Psychological Association accredited facility or equivalent. Also, significant experience in assessment and treatment of a variety of disorders is required. Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience with interdisciplinary rehabilitation, relevant research, and psychological consultant experience.
  • The ability to work 7.25-hour shifts between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, is required.

What we offer:

We offer a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and flexible work schedules that foster a healthy work-life balance. Take the next great step in your career and help us change lives. For more details, refer to the Collective Agreement between WCB-Alberta (Millard Health) and Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA).

Salary: Grade H8 - $117,420.02 to $152,837.28 CAD per annum

Successful candidate(s) must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person from our offices. Final candidates are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment.

We are committed to providing equal opportunity to all qualified persons, without regard to race, colour, religion or national origin, gender (or gender identity or expression), age, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability. Equal opportunity is provided in employment, promotions and wages.
