Where Greatness Grows

The greatest achievements in history are borne from the greatness within people – where human potential meets vision, and passion fuels evolution. Unlocking this potential is the most important thing we do at Bird.

As a leader in Canadian construction for over 100 years, the impact of our team is etched deeply within the core of our legacy. Beyond Bird, this impact is felt in the fundamental aspects of our everyday lives. From the critical infrastructure we depend on, to the energy and resources that keep us moving - we are powering our communities and shaping Canada’s skylines coast-to-coast. Entrenched in the foundation of a culture built more than a century ago is an enduring quest to reimagine what is possible. Our impact is greater than ever, and we are looking for those who seek to redefine their story.

We are a dynamic team of over 5,000 with a range of professions, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. This breadth of diversity in people and opportunities is one of greatest aspects of building your career with Bird. Every trajectory looks different. At Bird, you hold the pen, and you write your story. As you unlock your potential, you are surrounded by a team that supports you every step of the way.

Be a part of our team, where we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and the way we treat each other and our partners. You will build a career and long-lasting relationships based on respect, collaboration, and a solution-focused mindset. Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.

Our internships and co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.

We are seeking a student to join us for an 8 – 12 month co-op position starting as soon as possible. This position can be based out of the Calgary or Mississauga office.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Perform basic and moderately complex level one troubleshooting and repair activities for end-user devices such as desktops, laptops, mobile devices, desk phones, and printers. Install and troubleshoot end-user printers, ensuring that devices are properly functioning and meeting established customer service satisfaction levels.
  • Fulfill service requests from end-users, including tasks such as granting network drive access, administration of distribution lists, creation/modification/disabling of accounts, and fulfilling software requests. Ensure that service requests are completed in a timely manner and according to established guidelines.
  • Document processes, procedures, and Knowledge Base articles to maintain a repository of technical documentation and knowledge resources. This includes capturing troubleshooting steps, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing among team members and improve operational processes.
  • Work in a large team environment, supporting and assisting peers. Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel as needed. Identify and suggest possible improvements to procedures based on experience and feedback from end-users. Participate in the evaluation/implementation of ITIL best-practice operational processes to continuously improve service delivery.
  • Maintain an inventory of installed hardware and software, ensuring accurate tracking of assets and software licenses for compliance and inventory management purposes.
  • Work primarily during established work hours between 6:00 AM CT and 6:00 PM CT. Be prepared for the possibility of rotating after-hours on-call support to address urgent issues outside of regular work hours.

Who We Need On Our Team

  • You are currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Business Analysis, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to operate and contribute effectively in a fast-paced environment where change happens frequently.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain objective and manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, with strong time management skills and a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, build positive relationships with diverse groups, and exemplify the Ideal Team Player mindset, Hungry, Humble, and Smart.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a positive, team-focused attitude while handling pressure and achieving goals.
