26-B002 - Fitness Instructors (up to 20)

Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for up to 20 Fitness Instructors to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Arts and Culture Division, Recreation Programs and Services Department. Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, in this unionized position you will apply your advanced knowledge, enthusiasm and expertise to instruct a variety of Recreation and Aquatic Fitness programs for participants of various ages, abilities and interests. This position will appeal to applicants who have strong leadership and communication skills and are committed to excellence in customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist and participate in the planning process, organization and promotion of fitness programs
• Assist and participate in conducting drop-in and registered fitness classes for the public
• Maintain inventory of instruction supplies and equipment
• Assist in conducting a maintenance and custodial program ensuring that established standards of cleanliness and safety are enforced
• Respond to enquiries/complaints from the public regarding programs and activities
• Perform related work as required

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent, combined with related experience in programs and activities
• Sound knowledge of recreation programs, practices, and objectives
• Ability to organize, lead and participate in recreation programs and activities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with participants, recreation staff and volunteers
• Additional certifications are considered an asset

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment).

Emergency First Aid, CPR C/AED Certification

Required Certification for Recreation and/or Fitness:

• BCRPA Aquafit Registration (or equivalent) – RI 2
• BCRPA Group Fitness Registration (or equivalent) - RI 2
• Spin, Yoga Fit Certificate– RI 2/3
• Pilates Instructor Certificate - RI 4
• Yoga Instructor Certificate - RI 4
• Zumba Instructor Certificate - RI 4
• BCRPA Personal Trainer registration (or equivalent) – RI4
• BCAK Kinesiologist (or equivalent) – RI 5

Position Title and Rate of Pay:

• Recreation Instructor 2 (RI 2) - $30.83 – $34.25 (4 steps, 2024 rates) plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 3 (RI 3) - $31.97 - $35.40 (4 steps, 2024 rates) plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 4 (RI 4) - $33.11 - $36.54 (4 steps, 2024 rates) plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits
• Recreation Instructor 5 (RI 5) - $34.25 – $37.68 (4 steps, 2024 rates) plus 13.5% in lieu of benefits
