ABOUT THE POSITION

Job Overview

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, order, and overall appearance of public areas and back-of-house spaces. This position supports the Housekeeping Department by ensuring all assigned areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained to provide a positive experience for guests and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all assigned public areas, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms, and back-of-house areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and surfaces
• Empty trash and recycling bins
• Replenish supplies in public restrooms and common areas
• Clean glass, mirrors, and doors in public spaces
• Assist room attendants and housekeeping team when required
• Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor
• Follow housekeeping standards, schedules, and procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of housekeeping equipment and storage areas

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is an asset but not required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Duties and Responsibilities

• Follow safe work procedures as outlined in Departmental Policy and Procedures manuals, including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Know and comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations, as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour.
• Report all injuries or illnesses to a supervisor or manager immediately.
• Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee by bringing health and safety concerns or issues to the attention of the committee.

COMPENSATION

Pay Rate

• $19.50 per hour during probationary period. After probation, rate will change to $20.50 per hour.
