Service Technician
Drake International is currently sourcing candidates for our busy client in Halifax, Nova Scotia As a Service Technician, you will report to the Service Manager and be responsible for delivering profitable revenue for Ultimate Home Comfort.
Field WorkFollow the standard Operating Procedures with respect to installation and service of Ultimate Home Comfort products, including (but not limited to)1.
Call customers on route to job sites2. Treat customers with courtesy3. Leave customer homes cleaner than when we first arrived4.
Diagnose technical issues with stoves, fireplaces or BBQ’s5. Maintain proper safety equipment (work safe)6. Keep service vehicle (or trucks) neat, organized & properly stocked7.
Collect customer balances upon service completion8. Follow the company’s uniform guidelines9. Properly complete all paperwork, including pictures, notes, as well as make, model & serial numbers10.
Drive safely and abide by vehicle road laws and regulationsIn-House Work
Ensure principal service vehicle is safe for use and that all maintenance is
being taken care of (tire rotation & seasonal changes, oil changes, issues / problems )
- Answer telephone and ensure prompt and courteous customer service when no sales person is present
- Treat co-workers with respect
- Work closely with sales team in sharing installation and inspection information

Hours of WorkAs a Ultimate Home Comfort Service Technician, regular working hours will vary depending on the season and number / type of service calls booked.
This position includes Saturdays and possibly some Sundays in the future.Post secondary education in energy systems engineering from an accredited college or university.
A minimum two years building / installation experience required; six months alternative energy system installation and service experience considered an asset.
Engineering or electrical training or experience would be considered and asset. .KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESIncumbent must have a general knowledge of construction techniques and be able to effectively utilize hand tools displaying a high level of manual dexterity and eye / hand coordination.
Tools include power drills, chop and circular saws, basic hand tools, multimetres, small power tools, masonry equipment, pump jacks and fork lifts.
Experience with supervising and managing others to meet project deadlines. The incumbent must be able to work independently and have the ability to lead and mentor team members to achieve results.
Must have excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to communicate effectively and with tact, verbally and in writing, with customers, other employees, and with all external suppliers.
Must have good time management skills, ability to cope with change and to work in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to task is essential to work irregular and sometimes long hours to meet deadlines.
The Service Technician must wear appropriate personal protective equipment and strictly adhere to Health & Safety guidelines.
WORKING CONDITIONSPhysical conditions : Physically demanding requiring strength and endurance; use of ladders. Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Heavy physical lifting may be required as an integral part of the position, but must be performed according to safe lifting practices.
Psychological conditions : Direct contact with customers who may exhibit concern, irregular hours and fast-paced, high pressure environment during peak season;
