Job Description
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), North East Area, is seeking permanent Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the team at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Victoria Hospital serves a large and diverse catchment area, extending from central Saskatchewan to the border of the Northwest Territories. This high-acuity Emergency Department provides physicians with the opportunity to practice a wide scope of emergency medicine, including complex medical presentations and trauma, making it an excellent environment for both early-career physicians seeking strong clinical exposure and experienced physicians looking for a rewarding and dynamic practice.
Victoria Hospital is currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar expansion aimed at increasing overall capacity by 40%. The project includes a state-of-the-art heliport on the roof, an expanded Emergency Department, and northern Saskatchewan’s first MRI—enhancing both patient care and clinical opportunities for physicians.
As a University of Saskatchewan–affiliated teaching site, Victoria Hospital offers opportunities to teach and mentor medical students and residents from across Canada. Relocation Package
The successful candidate may be eligible for:
- The which provides emergency medicine physicians providing full-time (minimum of 0.8 FTE) services in qualifying communicates up to $200,000 over 5 year.
- The which provides eligible specialists $30,000 for starting a medical practice in a Saskatchewan community and maintaining the practice for a minimum of 36 months.
- The , which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for fulltime work.
UofS Emergency Medicine (FRCP) residents in years 4 and 5 may be eligible for:
- which provides U of S residents enrolled in the Emergency Medicine Specialty program (FRCP) up to $60,000 ($30,000/year) bursary funding for years 4 &5 for a two year return of service.
Job Qualifications
- Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada in Emergency Medicine (CFPC-EM)
- Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Ultrasound skills are an asset and will be required to obtain
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada
