Job Title : Senior Director - Legal Department

Company Overview : Join our client's dynamic team at one of Canada’s leading property owners, developers and managers of retail real estate.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead a team of lawyers specializing in real estate and commercial law.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate lease agreements, including letters of intent, lease offers, leases, and agreements for amendments, extensions, relocations, expansions, assignments, and terminations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase offers, counteroffers, deeds of sale, easements, and any other documents and agreements related to the acquisition or sale of properties and shopping centers.
  • Draft and review demand letters and lease termination notices.
  • Draft and review various commercial or civil documents or agreements.
  • Advise the operations, accounting, and leasing departments on various commercial and legal issues.
  • Consult the land registry and the RDPRM to verify necessary information.
  • Manage, supervise, and participate in the development of strategies for various litigation cases assigned to external counsel, including matters of arrears recovery and construction legal mortgages.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and provide legal opinions on various issues arising from commercial leases.

Qualifications :

  • Law degree and membership in good standing with the bar.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate and commercial law.
  • Proven experience in team management and supervision of complex legal projects.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual in French and English. (Must have)
