Summary :
Works with Tsubaki of Canada's VP of Finance to formulate current and long-range costing decisions, profitability objectives, and establishes accountability within the shop floor and manufacturing departments in order to achieve those corporate objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Planning, Studying, and collecting shop floor data to determine costs / profitability of manufacturing activities down to micro work center productivity.
- Coach shop floor employees on accurate recording of work order times.
- Analyzing data collected and recorded results.
- Develop and prepare detailed monthly production reporting metrics supporting director of manufacturing.
- Analyzing changes in product routings, raw materials, manufacturing methods provided, to determine effects on cost.
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual for F / S purposes.
- Support director of Manufacturing in controlling manufacturing expenditures.
- Analyzing current spending / costs and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in evaluating estimates for new and proposed asset acquisitions (assess accuracy of estimates & proposals).
- Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products (supporting technical support group in development of quoting tools).
- Maintaining QAD’s Cost Accounting System.
- Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger.
- Conducts physical inventory cycle counts when necessary and monitors integrity of cycle count program.
- Reconciles finished goods inventories.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment.
- Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Computer Literate - Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Experience with QAD (Shop floor control) a plus.
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
- Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
