Actuarial Analyst

Aviva Canada is looking for a hardworking individual interested in joining the Reserving team within the Corporate Actuarial family. This role is open for Actuarial Analyst and Senior Actuarial Analyst depending on the individual’s qualifications and experience. The applicant will work in a dynamic environment and will gain exposure across a wide spectrum of actuarial disciplines, including learning opportunities in predictive modelling using Python.

What you'll do :

Analyze the adequacy of the company's claim reserve levels by application of both standard actuarial techniques and the sophisticated reserving modelling using machine learning techniques.

Support the Quarterly Reserve Committee and Year-end Valuation reports.

Maintain monitoring reports for both internal and external reporting.

Provide insights regarding the company’s financial performance from a reserving point of view.

Build a close relationship with company-wide partners and connect with the business partners in understanding the reserve impact on their respective portfolio.

Develop improvements in current process to improve efficiency.

What you'll bring :

Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related field.

Actively pursuing actuarial exams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong team player who is also able to work independently.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - ability to establish and maintain good working collaborations with various departments.

Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work through the technical implementation details while appreciating the big picture.

Strong technical knowledge with MS Excel and VBA.

Experience with SAS, SQL, R and Python is an asset.
