Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join the Long Term Care team working at Berkley Care Centre and Cedarview Lodge in North Vancouver, BC.

As a Speech Language Pathologist with VCH you will :

• Assess, diagnose and treat the full range of communication and swallowing disorders.
• Complete client reports, educate clients / family, provide counselling and consultation, and present lectures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds, risk management and research, and provide leadership to new employees and Speech-Language Pathology students.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Current full registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Professionals of British Columbia.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Broad knowledge of evidence based practice.
• Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
• Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
• Basic knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to operate related computer equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
• Demonstrated ability to determine and deal effectively with urgent situations, clients / families / residents.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
