In this role, you’ll collaborate with brilliant minds and contribute to high-profile industrial and mining projects across Canada and globally, from early studies through to execution and closure. Our Resources subsector, a key part of WSP’s Energy, Resources & Industry (ERI) sector, delivers services that span economic studies, project management, detailed design, procurement, site management, commissioning and industrial programming for industrial and mining clients coast to coast. As a Process Engineering Lead based in our GTA offices in Ontario, you’ll lead the process discipline on projects ranging from conceptual and feasibility studies to detailed engineering for large, complex EPCM projects, and help guide the next generation of process engineers.
Your Impact
- Lead the process engineering discipline on multi‑phase projects, ensuring technical quality, safety, and performance from concept through detailed engineering and into execution.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and ensuring scope, budget, and schedule objectives are clearly understood and consistently met.
- Oversee preparation and review of core process deliverables, including simulations, mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, specifications, process schematics and layout inputs for 3D models.
- Guide process and technology selection for gas processing, mine infrastructure, utilities, and industrial applications, ensuring robust, efficient, and operable designs.
- Conduct and review hydraulic analyses and other technical studies, providing clear recommendations that support sound design and project decision-making.
- Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary WSP teams, vendors, sub‑consultants, and contractors to align interfaces, resolve issues, and support seamless project delivery.
- Mentor and coach junior and intermediate process engineers, providing technical guidance, on‑the‑job training, and constructive review of their analysis and design work.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, including planning resources, tracking progress, managing risk, and reporting status to senior leaders and clients.
- Support leadership with budgeting, strategy execution, staff development, and internal training initiatives that strengthen our Resources practice.
- Contribute to proposals and business development activities, helping to shape winning strategies and solution approaches for new work in the resources market.
- Work primarily in a hybrid consulting environment, with occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, and field assignments as project needs require.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and licensed (or immediately eligible to be licensed) as a P.Eng. in your province of residence.Approximately 12+ years of experience as a process engineer in a consulting engineering environment, including prior responsibility as a Lead / Discipline Lead on multidiscipline projects.Substantial experience in the mining and metals industry, ideally across different project phases (study, FEED, detailed design, execution, and / or operations support).Comfortable owning process design deliverables end‑to‑end – from early options and simulations through to detailed specifications, vendor review, and support during installation and commissioning.Hands‑on familiarity with industry‑standard software such as HYSYS, AFT Fathom, and / or Promax (or similar process simulation and hydraulic tools).Strong ability to build and maintain client relationships, representing the process discipline with confidence in meetings, workshops, and design reviews.Proven project management capability – planning work, coordinating resources, managing scope changes, and keeping your portion of the project on track and on budget.Enjoy mentoring others, providing thoughtful feedback and helping junior and intermediate engineers grow their technical and consulting skills.Thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and be energized by working across offices, time zones, and cultures to deliver integrated solutions.Why choose WSP?

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT : $135,200 - $179,100MB & ON : $123,300 - $169,800NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC : $122,100 - $162,200Disclosure : The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
