The Volunteer’s Role

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Advisor carries a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation of our programs.

Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, you will spearhead the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems, tools, and frameworks to gauge program outcomes and impact.

Your responsibility extends to orchestrating program learning initiatives, guaranteeing continual program enhancement, and fostering knowledge dissemination within the organization and among external partners.

Furthermore, you will offer technical guidance and capacity building to local partners, amplifying their monitoring and evaluation capabilities.

This position is tailored for individuals dedicated to international development, and possessing a robust background in monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional analytical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and the adeptness to convey intricate concepts to a diverse spectrum of stakeholders.

Self-motivation, adaptability, and the ability to operate autonomously and collaboratively within a global team are essential attributes for success in this role.

As a volunteer, you will :

  • Develop comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans in collaboration with fellow staff members, outlining the creation and enhancement of thorough M&E strategies.
  • Generate data collection tools and establish a Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) database
  • Regularly assess data collection procedures, conduct evaluations on data quality, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Deliver capacity-building sessions to enhance Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) skills among SIDO & BSBI personnel.
  • Conduct routine field visits to provide support and ensure proper monitoring of beneficiaries supported by SIDO.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders and local partners, fostering their capacities to conduct effective monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Prepare timely and top-notch Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) reports for SIDO Iringa and BSBI.

This includes documenting achievements, aggregating indicators through data analysis, summarizing qualitative findings, and more.

Essential Requirements :

Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, statistics, public policy, demographics, or a related field is required, with a focus on monitoring and evaluation.

Essential Background :

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working in an M&E role
  • 2 3 years of experience in project management with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experience in implementing women and youth empowerment initiatives
  • Proficient in facilitation, training, and delivering workshops
  • Skilled in using MS Office and delivering successful project management outcomes

SIDO was founded in October 1973 as a government-owned organization under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Marketing.

It aimed to foster the growth of the small industry sector in Tanzania. SIDO's responsibilities included policy formulation, direct assistance to industries, and establishment of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
