WHO WE ARE
ONE KIDS PLACE Childrens Treatment Centre provides rehabilitation and related support services for children and youth (up to the age of 19) and their families living in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound. All staff will provide service within an interdisciplinary team environment committed to family-centered practice.

Effective: ASAP (12 month contract)
Status: Unionized
Job type: Contract, Full Time 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:The Communicative Disorders Assistant will work under the supervision of a registered Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure coordinated delivery of rehabilitation services within an interdisciplinary, family-centered environment. Communicative Disorders Assistants will be responsible for implementing therapy programs; providing training to children, youth and their parents; and ensuring documentation is consistent with agency standards.


JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepare therapy and education materials to support screening, assessment and intervention
  • Support the recommendations made by supervising Speech-Language Pathologists in the implementation of therapy programs
  • Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist in training of children, youth and their parents or other support personnel
  • Provide fun intervention and innovative therapy activities to target communication goals based on the child's interests and abilities
  • Provide evidence-based therapy intervention while tracking progress with proper documentation
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma
  • Two years of recent related work experience in a pediatric/health care setting with children and youth with special needs
  • Working knowledge of community resources and supports within the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing and Parry Sound, and Timiskaming
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team environment under the supervision of registered Speech-Language Pathologists
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Ontario driver's license, proof of insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Computer competency and adaptable in the use of computer software for the purpose of screening, documentation, and communication
  • Bilingual (English/French) is preferred
  • Proof of COVID Vaccinations as required by the sector

SOMMAIRE DU POSTE :Lassistant(e) en troubles de la communication travaillera sous la supervision dun(e) orthophoniste agr(e) afin dassurer la prestation coordonne de services de radaptation dans un environnement interdisciplinaire et ax sur la famille. Il/Elle sera responsable de la mise en uvre des programmes thrapeutiques, de la formation des enfants, des jeunes et de leurs parents, et de la conformit de la documentation aux normes de lorganisme.


FONCTIONS DU POSTE:

  • Prparer le matriel thrapeutique et pdagogique ncessaire au dpistage, l'valuation et l'intervention.
  • Appuyer les recommandations des orthophonistes superviseurs dans la mise en uvre des programmes thrapeutiques.
  • Assister l'orthophoniste dans la formation des enfants, des jeunes et de leurs parents ou autres intervenants.
  • Proposer des interventions ludiques et des activits thrapeutiques innovantes ciblant les objectifs de communication en fonction des intrts et des capacits de l'enfant.
  • Dispenser des interventions thrapeutiques fondes sur des donnes probantes et assurer le suivi des progrs grce une documentation approprie.
  • Autres tches assignes.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diplme d'assistant en troubles de la communication
  • Deux annes d'exprience rcente pertinente en milieu pdiatrique ou de soins de sant auprs d'enfants et de jeunes ayant des besoins particuliers
  • Bonne connaissance des ressources et des services de soutien communautaires dans les districts de Muskoka, Nipissing, Parry Sound et Timiskaming
  • Capacit de travailler au sein d'une quipe interdisciplinaire sous la supervision d'orthophonistes agrs
  • Excellentes aptitudes interpersonnelles et organisationnelles
  • Excellentes aptitudes la communication orale et crite
  • Permis de conduire de l'Ontario valide, preuve d'assurance et vhicule fiable
  • Matrise de l'informatique et capacit d'adaptation aux logiciels informatiques pour le dpistage, la documentation et la communication
  • Bilinguisme (anglais/franais) souhaitable
  • Preuve de vaccination contre la COVID-19, conformment aux exigences du secteur
