Advise students with secondary and post-secondary credentials concerning UBC admission criteria and specific program requirements for admission to UBC undergraduate programs on both campuses. Support the advancement of Indigenous peoples’ human rights and UBC’s Foster access, success and representation at UBC of historically underserved, marginalized or excluded populations.

This position is located on the Vancouver campus of UBC and will require a presence at this location.

Organizational Status

Associate Student Recruiter-Advisors report to the Associate Director, Student Recruitment & Advising. The position works closely in collaboration with: (a) Student Recruiter-Advisors, Recruitment Marketing Prospective Student Engagement and Admissions staff on the Okanagan and Vancouver campuses of UBC, (b) other staff in UBC Enrolment Services, and (c) other on-campus units (i.e. Faculties, First Nations House of Learning, Indigenous Programs and Services, The Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program, Centre for Accessibility, International Student Initiative) to support the recruitment, advising, admission and successful transition of students to UBC.

4. Undertakes additional student recruitment and advising activities as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Our goal is to support and enhance the participation and success of students from systemically marginalized communities at our two UBC campuses with a priority on the advancement of Indigenous peoples’ human rights. Ineffective work will result in the failure of the University to meet goals set out in the University Strategic Plan (Shaping UBC’s Next Century), the Inclusion Action Plan, the Indigenous Strategic Plan, the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program and the Student Recruitment and Advising Strategic Plan. Ineffective work could damage the relations of UBC and trust with key communities and organizations.

This position is responsible for providing effective recruitment services and delivering accurate information about admission to the University's undergraduate programs with the aim of meeting the university's enrolment goals for our Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.
