This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, coordination, and seeing projects progress from concept to completion.

Working collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders, you will help coordinate project activities, track schedules and cost estimates, and support quality and safety requirements.

What you’d be responsible for

Design & Permitting Review

• Reviewing and supporting modifications to plans from landowners, contractors, and consultants to ensure alignment with engineering standards, EPCOR requirements, and City of Edmonton regulations
• Reviewing and approving Land Development Applications, development permit circulations, and servicing requirements for water and sewer systems

Project Coordination & Tracking

• Supporting multiple concurrent projects by tracking progress, timelines, and key deliverables
• Assisting in preparing project documentation, reports, and materials to support project planning and execution
• Helping ensure deliverables are aligned with departmental processes and requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborating with internal teams (engineering, maintenance, operations) and external stakeholders to support design reviews and project coordination
• Tracking and following up on review comments, action items, and approvals

Construction & Field Support

• Providing technical support during construction, including service installation and issue resolution
• Assisting with site inspections and pre-construction (pre-mobilization) kick off meetings as required

Documentation & Systems

• Preparing and distributing circulation packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Maintain organized project records across systems such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, POSSE, and others

Financial & Project Closeout Support

• Assisting with financial tracking, project closeouts, asset in-service processes, and work order completion

Continuous Improvement

• Contributing to lessons learned and support ongoing improvements to processes and project delivery

What’s required to be successful

Education & Certification:

• Completion of a 2-year Diploma in an accredited Engineering Technology program (Civil Engineering preferred) or in related fields such as Design and Drafting from a recognized post-secondary institution.Coursework or certifications in project management or project leadership are considered an asset.
• Eligibility for membership with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology (ASET) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
• Completion of required technical training (e.g., MicroStation, POSSE, and other geospatial/indexing systems) to support design review, analysis, and project delivery.

Experience that includes:

• 4+ years of experience in municipal servicing, civil engineering, or utility environments

Technical Skills:

Engineering & Design Expertise

• Strong knowledge of water and sewer systems, including municipal design and construction practices
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, including servicing plans, historical documents, contours, and elevations
• Solid understanding of grades, inverts, obverts, and utility crossings
• Ability to identify servicing conflicts across multi-utility plans

Construction & Field Knowledge

• Understanding of construction methods and standards (e.g., manholes, trenching, bridging)
• General knowledge of internal mechanical plumbing and building systems as they relate to municipal servicing

Systems, Tools & Analytical Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, SharePoint) for reporting and analysis
• Ability to work with technical systems, data, and project tools to support decision-making and reporting

Regulatory & Standards Knowledge

• Working knowledge of Water and Drainage Bylaws, EPCOR Design & Construction Standards, and Lot Grading Guidelines
• Familiarity with applicable provincial legislation and codes (e.g., Building Code, Plumbing Code, Zoning Bylaw, Condo Act)

Project Delivery & Coordination

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, budgets, quality,and competing demands
• Ability to support infill and development project planning, cost estimation, basic cost-benefit analysis, andschedule tracking
• Experience coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders in a project environment

Compliance & Safety Mindset

• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, permitting processes, and safety requirements

Nice to Have

• Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) or drafting software
• Familiarity with oracle suite of tools such as Primavera P6, Power BI, or Bentley IVARA
• Experience providing technical customer support to external stakeholders
