What YoullDo
- Provide one-on-one financial coaching that is holistic in nature, strengths-based and responsive to the clients learning style and prevailing life circumstances.
- Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency and other government offices to advocate for clients to access benefits and credits for which they qualify.
- Assistin preparing personal Income Tax and Benefit Returns and support the management of applications for federal and provincial government benefits.
- Guide clients through government systems to help them access available benefits, troubleshoot challenges, and overcome barriers to eligibility.
- Advocatefor clients in meetings with healthcare providers and other professionals to support benefits applications.
- Support financial education workshops for parents,teensand community members.
- Liaise with Connections In-Home teamtoprovide financial resources and information for families.
- Represent the Financial Coaching Program incommunities of practiceandparticipateinfinancial and tax/benefits policy advocacy.
- Adhere to Connections policies and practice standardsand fulfill all reporting requirements.
WhatWereLooking For
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in disability, social work, counselling or adult education fields, or equivalent experience.
- Financial literacy basics arerequiredand a background in financial coaching/advisingand benefits navigationis ideal.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and/or in social services or social justice areas is an asset.
- Basic tax knowledge such as understanding Canadian tax forms, common deductions and credits and use of CRA-certified tax software would be an asset.
- Able to treat client families with respect whilemaintaininga welcoming and professional attitude.
- Crucial soft skills, including an eagerness to learn, dependability, problem-solvingcapacityand adaptability.
- Proficiencyin case management.
- Demonstratedhigh levelsof accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well as part of a small, interdependent team.
Other important requirements for this role:
- During the orientation and training period, this position will work onsite at our office in NW Calgary. Once familiarized with our work and clients, a flexible hybrid work schedule created in collaboration with our team is possible.
- ACriminal Record check (including vulnerable sector screening) and Child Welfare Intervention Record checkdated within the last 90days,and a willingness to undergorenewal of such checks at least every 3 years
- Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires occasional travel within Calgary therefore a valid Class 5 drivers license, areliablevehicle, and $2,000,000 liability insurance rated for business use isrequired.
