Overview

Site Description: Quest-A Society for Adult Support and Rehabilitation provides 24/7 support to individuals living with mental illness and special needs. Services include nursing care, occupational therapy, recreation and social activities, personal care, and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)

Position Details:

Position: Full-Time Healthcare Security Officer (paternity leave coverage with opportunity to extend)

Site: Quest-A Society

Location : 70 Memory Ln, Lower Sackville, NS B4C 2J3

Hours: Monday to Friday; 0700-1500

Payrate: $ 20.50

Key Responsibilities:
Patrol Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the centre, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist centre staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and centre staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to policies and procedures.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
Collaboration with Centre Staff : Work closely with centre staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Enforce Centre Policies: Ensure that Centre policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds safety standards
Prerequisites:
• Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
• Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
