Summary

The Hope to Health Clinic, Research and Innovation Centre (R&I) in Downtown Eastside (DTES) is a unique and innovative health clinic comprised of a multidisciplinary clinical team focused on providing primary and specialty care for patients / clients in DTES community.. The R&I centre is staffed by an interdisciplinary team (e.g., physicians, nurses, counsellors, peer navigators) and provides “wrap-around” healthcare to clients ensuring they receive the full continuum of care under one roof. Hope to Health Clinic works as part of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV / AIDS.

The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV / AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the duties of Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) include working with the health care team to assess and engage new clients / patients, documenting assessments and developing and carrying out care plans and interventions in consultation with team members. In collaboration with team members, the Primary Care Nurse participates and facilitates team and case management meetings.

About You

Education and Experience :

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant or RPN registrant. Two (2) years’ recent related experience working with diverse marginalized populations in health care settings or community in a primary care, HIV, addictions and / or mental health setting, and previous experience working with an interdisciplinary team or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Completion of the Point of Care HIV Testing course and successful completion of the BCCDC Immunization certificate and Narcan Certification and / or commitment to complete within six (6) months of hire.
  • BCCDC Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Management certification; or evidence of enrollment and commitment to complete within six (6) months of hire.
