Job description

We are looking for a Groundskeeper to join our Residential team in Fort St. John, BC. Reporting to the Regional Manager, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety and overall presentation of Northview's properties, including building exteriors, grounds, common areas, entrances and surrounding areas. This role performs routine groundskeeping, seasonal upkeep, property inspections, snow and ice removal, waste and debris removal, and general property support while responding to work orders and resident needs. Through consistent property upkeep, timely service and safe work practices, Groundskeepers help ensure Northview's properties are well-maintained, accessible and welcoming for residents

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain clean, safe, and well-presented building exteriors, grounds, common areas, entrances, walkways, and surrounding areas
  • Complete routine groundskeeping and property upkeep, including litter and garbage removal, debris collection, and general outdoor maintenance
  • Perform snow and ice removal from entrances, exits, walkways, parking areas, and other designated areas as required to maintain safe access to the property
  • Conduct routine building and property inspections and identify maintenance, safety, cleanliness, or property condition concerns requiring follow-up
  • Respond promptly to assigned work orders and property concerns, completing tasks within established timelines and escalating issues requiring Maintenance or specialized services
  • Assist with emergency situations and urgent property concerns as required, in accordance with established procedures
  • Assist with the implementation of preventative maintenance programs and complete scheduled property upkeep and maintenance tasks as directed
  • Deliver and collect household appliances and other items as required
  • Move furniture, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items as required, including removing unwanted items and debris from vacant suites
  • Assist with the preparation and turnover of vacant suites by removing items, materials, garbage, and debris and ensuring areas are clean and ready for the next stage of work
  • Deliver notices to residents and post notices in common areas where applicable
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to residents and respond to routine property-related requests while maintaining positive resident relations
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with Northview's Health and Safety requirements, policies, and procedures

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, property maintenance, janitorial, building operations, landscaping, or a related field an asset
  • Previous experience working in residential, commercial, multi-unit housing, or other property environments an asset
  • Experience performing general property upkeep, cleaning, garbage and debris removal, or similar duties in a physically demanding environment
  • Experience safely operating and maintaining basic tools, equipment, and vehicles an asset
  • Familiarity with cleaning products, industrial-strength cleaners, tools, equipment, and materials used for general property maintenance

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-presented properties
  • Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and respond appropriately to changing property needs
  • Ability to communicate professionally and maintain positive resident relations
  • Ability to safely handle and use cleaning products, tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with established procedures
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, including furniture, equipment, appliances, materials, and supplies
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and climbing stairs
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as required
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation or clean drivers abstract where required
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check free of relevant convictions.
