Job description

About the Talent Programs Initiative:

Vancity’s Talent Programs Initiative offers ongoing programs to support equitable access to jobs, training, and career growth for Indigenous, Black, and Trans individuals. Our commitment is to create culturally safe, empowering opportunities that honour leadership, self-determination, and belonging for each community.

This posting reflects Vancity’s commitment to reconciliation and equity and is aligned with the BC Human Rights Code and guidance from the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner.

Our Commitment to Inclusion:

At Vancity, we believe that diversity strengthens our organization and our communities. We are dedicated to building a workplace where all identities—including Indigenous, Black and Trans are valued, respected, and celebrated.

  • Reconciliation is a core value and a guiding commitment at Vancity. Since 2016, we have worked in partnership with First Nations governments and Indigenous-led organizations to support Indigenous community priorities and advance meaningful change. This initiative is part of Vancity's response to TRC Call to Action #92 (ii) to support equitable hiring practices at Vancity for Indigenous applicants.
  • We are committed to being an inclusive, anti-racist organization with a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve.
  • We value lived experience and actively work to advance racial equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • We upskill our leaders and teams to ensure inclusion is at the forefront of our practices. Our leaders have had access to workshops and resources for Two-Eyed Seeing, Indigenous Cultural Safety, Trans & 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Combatting Anti-Black Racism to support their own learning journeys.
  • We currently have six identity-based groups in the organization. Vancity’s Indigenous, Racial Equity, and 2SLGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) work in collaboration with leadership to shape priorities, promote cultural safety and support the wellbeing of their members.

Who Should Apply:

We invite applications from individuals who connect with these backgrounds:

  • Indigenous Person – First Nations, Inuit and Métis. This includes of Indigiqueer and Two-Spirited peoples. We welcome those who are reconnecting with their communities, cultures, and identities, and those with lived experiences from these backgrounds.
  • Black Person – Black or part of the African Diaspora
  • Trans Person – Any gender identity under the trans umbrella (examples: transwoman, transman, nonbinary, genderqueer, or genderfluid individuals)
