Role Description :

Reporting to the Director, Retail Investments, the Analyst, Canadian Retail will be responsible for collecting and formulating real estate market and economic research materials to assist in determining asset and portfolio strategy. The Analyst, Canadian Retail will work extensively with other members of the Retail group, and at times, with members of the acquisition, development, property services / operations, leasing and research teams.

Responsibilities :

  • Evaluate value-add opportunities for existing properties and impact of significant leasing and capital decisions, along with providing sound analysis of development proposals.
  • Provide in depth analysis of portfolio and asset level performance.
  • Provide support to the Director, Retail Investments by assisting in the production of all reporting and presentations.
  • Provide support to the Director, Retail Investments by assisting in the production of investment memorandums; budget packages; business plans and leasing plans.
  • Prepare financial analysis, proforma modeling, market reports and investor memoranda for a variety of purposes, including development proposals; major capital and leasing investments decisions; and as required, acquisition / disposition analysis.
  • Assist in preparing annual business & leasing plans; operating and leasing budgets; and quarterly reports and presentations.
  • Provide input on the appraisal process as required.
  • Assist with due diligence in conjunction with members of the QuadReal Investment and Acquisitions team.
  • Gather and interpret market and economic research integrating with analysis and preparation of investment memos.
  • Embrace and pro-actively support QuadReal’s culture of environmental sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility.
  • Attend various internal & external meetings and property visits when necessary.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and Qualifications :

  • Education – University degree in Commerce / Business Administration (Urban Land Economics, Finance specialization) or alternatively MBA with Real Estate or Finance focus; Enrollment in CFA
  • Experience – 2 to 4 years of related industry experience (real estate company, appraisal firm, lender, brokerage company, retailer).
  • Relationship Skills – Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with all personalities; ability to exercise strict confidentiality.
  • Organizational / Multi-Task Skills – Accurate and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills; ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, manage and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities, and adapt to new ideas and constant changes; ability to use initiative and self-management skills to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Computer Skills – Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word; proficiency in Argus Enterprise
  • Hard working, passionate, dedicated, and excellent attention to detail with a retail focus.
