We are searching for an Occupational Therapy Aide / Physiotherapy Aide to join our Transitional Care Centre located in West Bedford, Nova Scotia.
The transitional care model supports NSH patients / families who require additional time, services, and support to transition back to home / community, by providing an alternate space with intentional programming, building design, and resource allocation to increase the probability of returning to their previous living situation.

About the Opportunity
- Prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy
- Administers and assists residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT, such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, ADLs;
- Assists residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist
- Documents according to policy and procedures (e.g. Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents etc.).
- Observes and monitors residents’ response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT / OT;
- Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections
About You
- You have a Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma from an approved college or you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. If you are currently enrolled in these programs, your application will be considered.
- U-first training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a long-term care environment would also be considered an asset.
- You have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles.
