Title : Nurse in Charge

Contract : Permanent

Hours : Part-time : 18.75 hours per week

Location : Ulkatcho (Anahim Lake) Nursing Station

Bargaining Unit : Professional Institute of Public Service Canada

About the role

As the Nurse in Charge, you will provide leadership on a comprehensive range of core nursing functions and services within a First Nations community to individuals, and family groups.

You will provide professional guidance and assistance to community leaders and other community health care team members in acquiring knowledge and skill.

You will work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. You will focus on promoting health, preventing disease and injury, protecting population health, as well as a focus on curative, urgent and emergent care, rehabilitation, and supportive or palliative care.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have / be :

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Current registration with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP)
  • Must be Remote certified (RNC) with BCCNM
  • Requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or approved training in obstetrics, mental health, or some other specialty
  • An understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols
  • Knowledge of nursing processes
  • You may have experience in;
  • Experience in primary care, disease and injury prevention, health protection, curative, urgent and emergent care, medical / surgical, rehabilitation and supportive or palliative care.
