Job description

Doing business to business, person to person. Payworks is a leading workforce management solutions provider and multi-year winner of the Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. We are proudly Canadian as well as committed to developing world-class products and providing a progressive workplace culture where Doing Right by Peopleis our purpose.

With clients of all sizes from coast to coast and more than 600 employees, we currently have an exciting opportunity on our Infrastructure team for the right candidate.

DOING RIGHT BY PEOPLE – IT’S WHAT WE DO

Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure, the Network Analyst will play a key role in ensuring the stability, scalability and security of our network infrastructure. You will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing and administering all initiatives for the Payworks campus and data centre networks. Working within a collaborative environment, you will act as a networking subject matter expert within the Infrastructure team and beyond – bringing your advanced expertise in routing, switching and network design to support a secure, high-performing environment that drives our business forward.

You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies and collaborate across teams to deliver innovative, secure solutions that support our ongoing growth in this role. If you take pride in your work, enjoy solving complex problems and value working with others to achieve great results; please read on!

WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE PAYWORKS
  • Comprehensive employer paid benefits, including a Health Spending Account, for you and your family and excellent pension plan with employer contributions.
  • Plenty of professional development opportunities.
  • Community-minded culture – Receive two paid days per year to volunteer and lots of opportunity to “Pay it Forward”.
  • Time and flexibility to meet your needs – Hybrid work model with flexible work options, plus 3 weeks vacation to start, flex time and parental leave benefits.
  • Cool perks – Annual Lifestyle Spending Account, fun office environment and events, and more!
DESIGN, PLAN AND SUPPORT – IT’S WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Design and develop scalable networks – As a key member of the Infrastructure team, you will plan, design and implement complex data center and campus networks to meet current and future business needs. You will contribute to building Payworks’ next-generation network; evaluating and recommending solutions, producing architecture documentation and simplifying design complexity for greater uptime and scalability.
  • Monitor and provide network support – You will oversee the performance, availability and optimization of wired and wireless networks. Leveraging your advanced networking knowledge, you will serve as the escalation point for complex incidents, lead root cause analysis and drive effective resolutions and improvements.
  • Secure and segment the network – Collaborating with our Corporate Security team, you will design and implement secure, compliant network infrastructure. This includes segmentation strategies, firewall configurations and remediation of vulnerabilities that meet best practices.
  • Collaborate and document for success – Working closely with internal teams and vendors, you will ensure our technology solutions align with business goals. You will also document infrastructure, procedures and configurations to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency across the team.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience managing and supporting enterprise network environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of and practical experience with BGP, OSPF, routing and switching in complex environments.
  • Proven experience with Palo Alto NGFWs (or similar), as well as enterprise wireless and wired networks.
  • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure), SD-WAN technologies and Aruba networking systems, Citrix CCP or CCE.
  • Strong understanding of core networking concepts like TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VPN and SD-WAN.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex network issues under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • A proactive, highly collaborative and self-driven approach to work and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends.
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE certifications would be an asset.

We are proud to support a Flexible Work Plan that recognizes the diverse needs and lifestyles of our people. The Network Analyst has the option to work fully from the Payworks office or on a hybrid work model, working in the office at least three (3) days a week. This role may require participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
