About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Assistant / Structural Superintendent with wood‑frame or concrete experience to join our construction team on upcoming multi‑family residential projects in Vancouver. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and eager to grow into a future leadership role. Reporting to the Superintendent, the role involves overseeing day‑to‑day site operations with a focus on framing, rough‑ins, envelope, and safety. The successful candidate will contribute to quality control, scheduling, trade coordination, and site logistics while maintaining Marcon’s standards for craftsmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow Marcon policies and procedures and lead by example.
- Support the Superintendent to ensure progress, site hygiene, and quality are all maintained.
- Review the Superintendent’s schedule and understand priorities.
- Handle day‑to‑day scheduling (micro‑manage) all framing, rough‑ins and envelope aspects of the project as laid out by the Superintendent.
- Quality control of all aspects of framing, envelope, rough‑in and exterior finishes.
- Participate in all required morning and weekly trade progress meetings.
- Understand and review all drawings to ensure project accuracy including all required shop drawings and architectural, mechanical, electrical, interior design and structural drawings.
- Monitor crane and forklift usage with regard to deliveries and their production rates.
- Understand site temporary power and distribution needs.
- When the workload and size of the project dictate, be a hands‑on contributor, able to help with all skilled and labour tasks.
- Maintain a high safety culture on the site and support CSO’s efforts.
- Attend Safety toolbox talks and demonstrate commitment to safety in those meetings.
- Understand all WCB regulations with regard to multi‑family wood‑frame construction.
- Understand crane and forklift safety.
- Understand fire safety plans.
- If placed on the below‑grade stage, manage the installation of excavation layout, shoring principles, water management during detail excavation, and coordinate foundation elevations and underground services.
- Manage all wood and steel stud rough‑ins, framing of walls, joists, drops, stairs, shafts, roofs and related back framing.
- Control all required layers of wood and drywall in the framing process to achieve required ratings in assemblies.
- Manage all aspects of fire suppression in wood structures, including monitoring.
- Schedule and coordinate all inspections, inclusive of structural framing, geo‑tech, envelope, fire‑stop, and materials testing.
- Maintain a clean and organised office area; prepare daily task sheets; maintain an up‑to‑date daily diary including photos and notes.
- Use Fieldwire to communicate trade issues and quality; read and understand all scopes of work related to contractors involved in the structure.
About You
Demonstrate leadership qualities and a continuous learning attitude.Red seal carpenter preferred with a minimum of five years of framing experience.Some Microsoft skills; Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project as well as construction‑specific software i.e. Fieldwire and BlueBeam.Understand basic trigonometry and construction math.Tickets : Bobcat, forklift, L1 First Aid, Fall Pro, Safety Supervisor.Ability to work long hours when necessary to maintain project schedule.Ability to accurately estimate quantities for wood framing materials inclusive of hardware and hold‑down systems.What We Offer
