Duties

Visitor Services Attendants provide information and revenue collection at entrance gateways, visitor centres, campgrounds, kiosks and on park and historic site grounds. They also provide interpretation and minor cleaning to enhance the visitor experience.

Intent of the process

This process is intended to fill anticipated vacancies with the Visitor Experience team (approximately June to November, with various lengths in term). This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country. This process is an inventory. We will be extracting the first round of applications for the 2026 operational season on January 18, 2026. If you wish to work this upcoming season, ensure to apply prior to this date or you may only be considered if vacancies become available later in the season.

Important messages

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

Tips for applicants :

  • When answering application questions, be thorough and provide concrete examples. “See resume” is not considered an acceptable answer. Do not assume that the screening board has any previous knowledge of your background, qualifications, or work history.
  • Failure to provide sufficient information may result in your application being screened out of the competition.
  • You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be considered for the position.
  • Other qualifications listed as additional or asset are not mandatory to apply. However, these may be considered throughout the assessment process.

  • Valid class 5 driver’s licence or provincial equivalent.
  • Willingness to report to work in Rogers Pass National Historic Site, Glacier National Park, and / or Mount Revelstoke National Park as required.
  • Willingness to work at various sites (including Rogers Pass) inside buildings and outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Work shift‑work, and / or weekends, and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays as scheduled.
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and / or prescribed protective equipment.

Operational Requirements

  • Conduct repetitive tasks.
  • Make moderate physical effort to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lift supplies, tools and equipment such as buckets.
  • Pick up litter and trash.
  • Follow safe work practices to prevent exposure to noxious odors and / or minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities (e.g., falls from ladders, irritations from cleaning products, minor cuts and bruises).
  • Operate point of sale systems and small equipment (e.g. leaf blower).
  • Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.

    EDUCATION

    Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

    OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

    Valid class 5 driver’s licence or provincial equivalent

    EXPERIENCE

  • EX1 : Experience providing information and service to the public, including complaint resolution;
  • EX2 : Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales.

    KNOWLEDGE

  • K1 : Knowledge of Mount Revelstoke & Glacier National parks and surrounding area;
  • K2 : Knowledge of cash handling practices including preparing deposits.

    ABILITIES

  • A1 : Ability to communicate effectively orally ;
  • A2 : Ability to provide service excellence to internal and external clients;
  • A3 : Ability to identify problems and troubleshoot to find solutions;
  • A4 : Ability to take initiative, dealing with situations proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.
