Are you passionate about empowering Squamish Nation members to achieve their employment and training goals? The Sts'its'áp'new̓as Employment & Future Skills team is seeking a dedicated Fortis, Employment and Training Officer to bridge opportunities between Squamish Nation, Fortis, and prime contractors. This role is pivotal in implementing the Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) for the Fortis gas pipeline project, ensuring our members access meaningful training and employment pathways. What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Squamish Nation’s Employment & Future Skills team and Fortis/prime contractors, ensuring IBA commitments are met.
  • Develop and manage recruitment strategies, training plans, and employment-seeking options for Squamish Nation members.
  • Conduct one-on-one client assessments to identify barriers and create tailored employment/training action plans.
  • Coordinate logistics for job fairs, workshops, and community engagement sessions with Fortis partners.
  • Track and report on employment outcomes, ensuring transparency and accountability under the IBA.
  • Foster strong relationships with external stakeholders, advocating for culturally responsive training and hiring practices.
  • Provide high-level administrative support, including data entry, reporting, and event coordination.
  • Uphold Squamish Nation’s values of wenáxws (respect) and snew̓íyelh (guidance through teachings) in all interactions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in employment services, project coordination, or Indigenous workforce development.
  • Knowledge of Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs), labour markets, and/or trades training programs.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders (employers, clients, community partners).
  • Excellent organizational skills with a focus on data management, reporting, and project timelines.
  • Cultural humility and understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values and community priorities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and travel between North Vancouver/Squamish sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.

Salary: $62,500 - 87,500

Candidates are typically offered compensation between the beginning to the midpoint of the range. Weare committed to providing a fair and equitable package that reflects the value an individual brings to the organization.
