The Estimator is responsible for completing accurate quantity take-offs and estimates of costs for materials, labour, fabricating, subcontracting and overhead allocations.
Estimator contributes to overall strategy and programs for estimating including capacity, information technology, and for new processes and systems for the company.
Qualifications required
- A recognized university degree or college diploma focused on construction, engineering or architecture
- Specific training and excellent skills related to estimating software and / or computer take-offs
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Experience and Skills Required :
- Min. 5-8 years experience in managing complete estimates, bid submissions and project monitoring for major construction projects
- Min. 3 years exposure and experience within the glazing industry with a keen understanding of key suppliers, activities and construction methodology for glazing
- Demonstrated understanding of profitability by major construction functions
- Strong IT, software and hardware management skills; ability to manage / submit bids electronically
