Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $38.12/Hr. - CAD $54.80/Hr.

Summary

Within the context of a client and family centred model of care and in accordance with the Mission Vision and Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care the person promotes a safe respectful and civil working environment for patients residents families visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Manager Wellness Psychological Health and Safety the Advisor Psychological Health and Safety is responsible for:

  • Providing support to the key initiative of Psychological Health and Safety (PHS).
  • Support the PHS department to develop and implement improvement initiatives to support Occupational Health & Safety regulatory compliance Collective Agreement adherence Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace CSA Zimplementation and Ministry of Health directives and other applicable strategies policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with leadership to support the development of PHC strategic and operational initiatives implementation plans briefing papers and reports project management as well as steering and advisory committee participation.
  • Assisting with consulting services strategy planning facilitation team building education and training and culture and respectful workplace development issues.
  • Collaborating with both internal and external partners in the development of PHS implementation plans and practices related to the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (CSA Z). This work is framed within PHC commitments to Indigenous cultural safety anti-racism and equity diversity and inclusion.

Note: Some site travel may be needed to support program operational delivery.

What You Bring

Education Training and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in a health-related and/or occupational health and safety discipline supplemented by coursework/experience/knowledge in Psychological Health and Safety
  • 5 (Five) to 7( seven) years of recent related experience working in a healthcare environment including project management change management quality improvement general health and safety trauma-informed care and experience with large-scale organizational change efforts or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in healthcare settings and/or unionized environments specifically with medical staff and medical leaders.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial factors impacting personal well-being and organizational health as outlined in the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations legislation policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management particularly in change initiatives.
  • Ability to plan organize coordinate and allocate resources to accomplish project plan objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents (e.g. project plans risk management plans marketing or communication plans progress reports project wrap-up documentation).
  • Excellent presentation facilitation negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer technology especially the fundamentals of word processing spreadsheets graphics and cloud databases.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

Your Day to Day

  • Supports the development of implementation plans for the Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace CSA Zstandard and associated objectives and goals.
  • Analyzes existing PHS management systems and processes and makes recommendations to optimize assessing addressing and tracking key psychosocial factors impacting workforce PHS.
  • Prepares PHS related reports briefings presentations communications research elements and other tools and resources as required.
  • Reviews analyses and reports on PHS metrics as requested.
  • Collaborates with department and portfolio leaders across the organization for a coordinated approach to the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Establishes partnerships with internal partners (e.g. Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees Senior Health & Safety Committees Organizational Development Clinical Operations Employee experience) and external (e.g. WorkSafeBC SWITCH BC SafeCare BC Provincial Health Care Unions other health authorities) partners.
  • Provides education consultation and guidance to operational leaders to support the implementation of the Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace CSA Zstandard.
  • Supports ensuring compliance with collective agreements government regulations Ministry of Health directives and applicable policies and procedures with regard to occupational health and safety.
  • Supports the PHS implementation plan and develops guidelines templates and critical activity pathways and makes recommendations for action.
  • Supports the Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and health promotion programs including coordination promotion and evaluation answering inquiries troubleshooting issues and corresponding with the service provider as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
