Job description

We are seeking a self-motivated baker extraordinaire that is responsible for baking and creating mouth watering snacks (the cinnamon buns could really be classified as a meal). The Baker will execute and improve recipes, keep a clean and tidy work environment, respect all food safe practices and will assist with the ordering of all baking ingredients. Focusing on the origins of the successful Whitewater Cooks series, and utilizing locally produced products as much as possible, it’s unlike any other resort kitchen in the world! Please note: This position starts at 5:00 am therefore applicants must have a safe and reliable 4WD vehicle and be comfortable in extreme winter driving conditions.

JOB SYNOPSIS:

Assisting in the daily operation of the cafeteria. Your primary goal is to provide quality baking and food service in order to help ensure that our guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience in our café or bar.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Opening procedures of the cafeteria.
  • Daily baking according to predicted volumes and prep cooking when needed.
  • Recipe suggestions and ideas.
  • Food safe practice.
  • Provide good guest relations.
  • Implementation of all risk management procedures.
  • Adhering to Whitewater Mountain Resorts employee and resort policies and procedures.
  • Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by reviewing and amending where necessary but not limited to: Department Manuals, CDPP, Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

  • Mature, reliable, and presentable.
  • 1-2 years work experience as a baker.
  • Baker’s papers or courses an asset.
  • Food Safe.
  • Reliable transportation, 4x4 recommended.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Reliable and presentable.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work alone.
