Job description
Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Legion Wing.

In accordance with established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, the RN/RPN practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and working collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person-centered and recovery-oriented care. The RN/RPN supports patients through transformative mental health treatments using a unique blend of clinical nursing expertise, specialized knowledge in psychedelic-assisted therapies and strong interpersonal skills. Designs, implements, and monitors individual treatment plans to maximize community functioning and reduce re-hospitalization. Works in close association with inter-professional mental health and substance use staff, emergency services, Indigenous partners, and community service providers. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintains and advances clinical competence.
Resume and Cover letter outlining MHSU experience, Ketamine administration, knowledge of psychedelic therapy or hold a certificate in Psychedelic Therapy. Willingness to obtain psychedelic therapy education.

Qualfications
•Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience in mental health and substance use programming or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Advanced preparation in area(s) of clinical specialty:
o Psychedelic Assisted Therapy RN
 Completion of a Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Graduate Certificate program from an accredited educational institute
• Experience with varying forms of healing modalities, ., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Grof Breath work, Internal Family Systems, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hakomi

Skills and Abilities:
• Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Communication – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff, and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
• Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice – Ability to promote person-centered and recovery orientated care that demonstrates empathy, ethical integrity, and support for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
• Culturally Safe and Trauma Informed Care: Ability to create culturally safe, trauma informed health care settings through individualized care planning and collaborative approaches to service provision, including Indigenous health services as possible.
• Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Management – Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
• Leadership – Ability to create a non-judgmental, psychologically safe environment. Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
• Knowledge Integration – Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts, and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
• Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
