As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced (Service Tech IV), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do:

  • Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment

  • When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner

  • Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed

  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis

  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools

  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams

  • Must own tools applicable to position

  • Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Mecanicien Diesel/ Mechanic - Branch - 6N0003

Comme tous les membres de notre équipe, vous aurez la responsabilité de fournir un service d’exception à nos clients.

Voici d’ailleurs quelques-unes des principales tâches:

  • Assurer l’entretien et la réparation de systèmes mécaniques, électriques, hydrauliques et diesel complexes sur une vaste gamme d’outils et d’équipements de location ou de clients, tout en faisant preuve d’une grande indépendance de jugement.

  • Au besoin, se rendre sur le lieu de travail du client pour réparer ou entretenir son matériel ou celui qu’il a loué (vous serez chargé de veiller à la propreté et au caractère présentable du véhicule de service).

  • Participer à la formation des techniciens subalternes, au besoin.

  • Tenir à jour la documentation écrite ou électronique associée aux travaux effectués (bons de travail) de manière exhaustive chaque jour dans les délais prescrits.

  • Participer au ramassage et à la livraison des équipements et des pièces.

  • Réaliser les autres tâches demandées en fonction des besoins.

Exigences du poste :

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires ou équivalent.

  • Permis de conduire valide assorti d’un dossier de conduite jugé acceptable.

  • Expérience de plus de cinq ans en réparation ou en entretien d’équipements et d’outils.

  • Compétences avancées en mécanique et connaissance pratique des outils.

  • Connaissance approfondie des équipements de construction et compréhension avancée des schémas et des diagrammes.

  • Possession des outils applicables au poste obligatoire.

  • Service à la clientèle de qualité supérieure, esprit d’équipe et capacité à communiquer aussi bien à l’oral qu’à l’écrit.

  • Capacité à soulever fréquemment des objets pouvant peser jusqu’à 20 kg (45 lb).

You will use a high degree of independent judgment and complete maintenance/repairs tasks in a safe and professional manner. What you'll do:

  • Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams

  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, pneumatic and other systems

  • Extensive knowledge of equipment

  • Must own tools applicable to position

  • Ability to lead others

  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental tools and specialty equipment at branch or customer locations involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding, and hoisting

  • Ability to diagnose and repair all equipment in rental tool fleet appropriately utilizing schematics and diagnostic programs without supervision

  • As assigned supervise, train and organize the work duties of other technicians in the department

  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed

  • When required travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining Specialty Tools

  • Must own tools applicable to position

  • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork and customer service skills

  • Advanced knowledge of schematics and diagrams

  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systems

What you'll do:

  • Using high degree of independent judgment, perform safe maintenance and repairs on a variety of complex rental equipment, tools and vehicles at branch or customer locations involving mechanical, electrical systems

  • Diagnose and repair all equipment in the rental fleet without supervision utilizing schematics and diagnostic programs

  • As directed by managers, supervise and organize the training and work duties of other technicians in the department

  • Maintain paperwork and the electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner

  • Record preventative and ready inspection completion

  • Document parts and labor accurately

  • When required travel to customer site for repair/maintenance of rental or owned equipment

  • When traveling to a customer site for repair or maintenance of rental or owned equipment, maintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner

  • Assist in the pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals, Inc. locations for purchases or repairs

  • When necessary and without supervision, accurately order needed parts using reference material as required; communicate with all necessary vendors and suppliers

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, verbally and in writing, to complete assigned tasks

  • Coach and mentor less experienced Service Technicians and assist peers in developing better diagnostic skills

  • Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Trade school training preferred

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools

  • Ability to trouble shoot and “field repair” a broad range of equipment

  • Must own tools applicable to this position and have a working knowledge of tools

  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systems

  • Mechanical knowledge of various engines

  • Advanced knowledge of schematics, diagrams knowledge of heavy equipment, the manufacturers’ warranty process, and the work order / time spent accounting process

  • Demonstrated time management skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills

  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
