Unit Summary
The new Regional Rehabilitation Centre's B3 South , Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit is a 16 bed inpatient unit for patients post brain injury admitted for rehabilitation and community re-integration. The unit provides rehabilitation for adults with significant cognitive and physical needs. The emphasis is on improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
Position Summary
As a member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, the speech language pathologist provides evaluation, intervention, consultation, education and prevention to an adult population presenting with communication and swallowing disabilities as a result of impairments in language, cognitive-communication abilities, articulation, voice, fluency and/or oropharyngeal dysfunction, related to an acquired brain injury event(s). Supervision and teaching of Rehabilitation Therapists is an integral part of the position. Service delivery consists of a combination of consultative and direct treatment.

Qualifications
1. Registered with CASLPO or eligible for registration
2. Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
3. Current knowledge base and experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders
4. Previous experience working with acquired brain injury population within a rehabilitation setting preferred
5. Experience with video-fluoroscopy swallowing studies an asset/preferred
6. Skills and experience in the areas of augmentative and alternative communication preferred, or a willingness to actively develop these skills
