Lunchroom Supervisor - Developmental Classroom

Summary : LunchroomSupervisors work under the direction of the Principal of the school to whichthey have been appointed. Lunchroom Supervisors shall be responsible forsupervising students who remain on the school grounds over the lunch hourrecess.

The Principal shall determine the time period during which thelunchroom supervisor will be employed. Duties : 1.Lunchroom Supervisors support students in various classroom settings to providelunch break supervision on a daily or supply basis.

2.Supervising the setting-up and removal of lunch room equipment.3.Supervising the disposal of lunch refuse in suitable containers and the generalcleaning of the lunch room areas.

4.Dealing with discipline problems in a manner prescribed by the Principal andreporting significant disciplinary actions to the Principal or his / herdesignate.

5.Carrying out such noon hour supervision duties as the Principal may assign. Qualifications : We'relooking for lunchroom supervisors with the following skills and qualities :

  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to ensure the safety and security of students
  • Ability to communicate with staff, students and parents
  • Willingness to work with students with different needs and capabilities
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Proven record of attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and / or workenvironment Where are lunchroom supervisors needed?

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) is responsiblefor public education in the rural settings of Uxbridge, Brock and ScugogTownships and the urban settings of Ajax, Whitby, Pickering and Oshawa.

With 132 elementary and secondary schools and learningcentres, the Board accommodates more than 70,000 regular day students.

How much time is involved?Lunchroomsupervisors will generally work approximately 1-2 hours per day (or moredepending on the school's requirements) during the school year from Septemberto June.

How you can apply?Sincethis is a casual position that works daily or on-call, on a day-to-day basisduring the school year (September to June), lunchroom supervisors must livewithin a reasonable distance to the school.
