ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key member of our Zero Emission Propulsion - Electrical Engineering department, you will be responsible for the completion of engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation.

This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings and bill of material.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  • Create electrical designs and drawings that meet customer specifications and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and regulations.
  • Complete controlled testing of components and installations to meet contractual obligations, ensuring product reliability and verifying component fit.
  • Check engineering documents, instructions to service, shop floor instructions and other documents.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues.
  • Provide Engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support and other departments as required.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience will be considered
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist
  • Five or more years of electrical design experience within a manufacturing environment and related to the essential functions listed above
  • Proficiency with mechanical design, including raw materials, fasteners, part manufacturing processes
  • Adept with Microsoft Office, Unigraphics or equivalent 3D CAD system skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting / test equipment, and electrical bus design
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and time-management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and achieve performance objectives and targets, work efficiently in a high demanding fast paced work environment
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Travel is required for this position*
